TechNation Australia: Top 100 Aussie Web Startups - April 09

  • another one · 8 months ago
Hi You may add http://www.geniuswiki.com, an Australian startup
  • mliubinskas · 8 months ago
Hey Kim, thanks, interesting as always.

Omnidrive is now an ad site. I'd remove it.

Also, with Designbay, I'd aggregate it at the main domain.

    Cheers

    Hi Kim,

    What is a start-up?

hotdockets.com.au has been around from August 2000.
    I could suggest smh.com.au as a start-up.

    Cheers

Exactly what I was trying to argue when the list was first published. Define "startup". Now let's see whether there's anyone game enough to remove companies-way-beyond-startup from the wiki...
  • Geoff Evason · 8 months ago
Indeed. The companies listed here are based on the wiki: http://www.startup-australia.org/startups

If you don't think a company belongs, go edit the wiki...

We *know* that 'traffic' does not equal startup success, and that for different types of startups this is even a fair comparison... But it is easy to access info and a fun/easy way to see what Aussie websites are doing.

For any who thinks other factors like revenue, should be included - we'll be happy to post your financial data if you send it us...

    Well said, Geoff.

I see you conjured up the courage to remove hotdockets from the list. Nice one! Maybe we should just check the domain age and remove any site that is older than 3 years from the list. I know this is arbitrary and unfair, but so is listing just any old site. Without a clear (and unfair) rule it might turn into a free-for-all...

    Would this help?

    what about adding the jdereport.com.au
  • JDE · 7 months ago
You are welcome to add http://www.jdereport.com.au

I don't believe www.TicketChoice.com.au should have fallen off the list (it was only first added back in January I believe). Our traffic numbers are dramatically improving everyday. Can you check into this for us?

    Hi Jeremy

Sorry to hear TicketChoice has fallen off the list.

There are various reasons why this may have happened including new, higher-ranked entrants to the list or the growth in numbers you're seeing not correlating with numbers we measure.

Best of luck with the site and congratulations on the continued growth. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you guys get back on.
