TechNation Australia: More News On McDonalds Free WiFi

Yep saw this on the drive through as we rolled through this afternoon at Castle Hill...as a side effect the "free" wireless that Telstra iPhone users were provided by McDonalds is no longer exclusive (and so can be gobbled up by any old users), and the Starbucks have gone, which kind of makes the "free" wifi not really a big selling point any more.

Welcome news, indeed. There aren't too many free wifi hotspots in Canberra at the moment.

I run the FreeWifi site and the comment (from Whirlpool) re the advertising is a furfie. Not sure if this was a store that did Free Wifi off their own back but the latest nationwide rollout by McDonalds corporate is untimed access with 50MB download limit. There is no ads, no usernames just agree to the T&C's and off you go.
